Update: Dr Ken Mark has a few new skincare products

I have tried 2 of Dr. Ken Mark's products, and I love them---I think that they are excellent skincare products--the daily moisturizer and the eye cream.  Each is in a pump dispenser. 

there are a few new products, I've yet to try, but I just wanted you to know that there are a few new items to check out.  Please post if you've tried them.

2009 October 14: Fire Museum had the cook-off

Oct 14 2009 was the NYC Fire Museum's Cook-Off contest which raises money for the Fire Museum in order to restore magnificent paintings and artifacts related to the History of Fire Fighting.

I did not attend this year--I did attend last year---and I'll post the winners as soon as I have more info.

The New York City Fire Museum is a very cool place.  Take a look at their website, and I hope you'll visit the museum in person.  I've recently renewed my membership there.

There is also a very respectful tribute memorial for the 343 NYC firefighters lost on September 11, 2001.  Personally, I find it a comfort to be able to go to the museum and see this memorial.

The New York City Fire Museum is located at 278 Spring Street, between Varick & Husdson Streets.

If you have kids, and want to throw a great birthday party---look at the website now!

The New York Times Best-Selling True Crime Author, Ms. Ann Rule, has a great, informative website for fans and newcomers of her very well-written, compassionate, True Crime books.  She also has her own Blog there.  If you have never read a true crime book, Ann Rule's books are the best place to start.  She does her own research, and she treats the victims with respect and compassion. She has appeard on Larry King, and Oprah!  I'd recommend starting with one of her most famous books, "The Stranger Beside Me"...a NEW Updated version of this amazing book will be out soon.  Any one of Ann Rule's True Crime books will hold your attention--you won't want to put the book down.  Every one of her books is that kind of book.

I also think that Oil of Olay makes fine skincare products, too. These are usually widely available at many drug stores, or drug store-type departments in larger stores.  The prices are very reasonable.  With a very large selection, I'd suggest a visit to the Oil of Olay website first to help you decide on which products are right for you.

In very brief: 2 great Products- 1)Fine Line area near eyes & 2)skincare product for face, neck, decollete.  Each is in a pump dispenser to prevent the spread of bacteria.  You will see more and more skincare and make-up products being sold in this manner--it is the way to go, for sure.

Personally, I am extremely pleased with each product, and I have seen a difference...a lovely difference, to the point that I have gotten very positive comments about my skin!  These are those type of products that you don't want to be without!!

It was a fun time, good food, good laughs, great looking NYC Firefighters, and money raised will help to restore the beautiful Firefighter-related oil paintings that will be on display at the Fire Museum. There were raffles, prizes and nice people at this event.  And there were SEVERAL FAMOUS PROFESSIONAL CHEFS THERE TOO!  THE ONLY THING MISSING WAS YOU!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR A FUN EVNING IN OCT 2009...just watch the NY Fire Museum website for the latest info. The NY Fire Museum is located in downtown Manhattan, on Spring Street. 

You've got to buy a ticket for the Firehouse Tasting and Cook-Off Event, which will have New York City's bravest competing in the kitchen.....we all know that some of the best cooks around are firefighters, so come on, have some fun, enjoy some delicious food, and help The NYC Fire Museum restore some of the many, mangnificent older paintings of great firefighters....from the early 1900's !.  TV personality/Chef Ms Daisy Martinez will be there too!!

There will also be raffle tickets sold at the event for prizes.   (shhh, keep this quiet but,  I've never seen a bad looking firefighter, have you?!)  It should be a fun event, with great food, an easy-on-the-eyes type of evening, and you'll be helping to get those historical paintings restored.

If you can't attend the event, then I'd urge you to visit the Fire Museum when you're able to. The main floor has an area that has a very nicely done memorial to those NYC Firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001--photos of each firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice, and much more in tribute, on display.  You'll also be able to see antique firefighting equipment on the main floor, and the 2nd floor has beautiful antique equipment as well, and much more.  I'll let you be surprised.  I enjoyed my recent visit, and I joined the Museum, so I'm a "[civilian] member of the museum".

If you're trying to come up with a fun birthday party for a "child of any age", talk to the Fire Museum.  Heck, I'd love to go to a birthday party there!  I would think that a lot of parents would like to attend a children's party like that.  Call the NYC Fire Museum for more info.

I love Trader Joe's supermarket.  Trader Joe's has the right idea.  Quality products at great prices. And tasting samples are also offered in the stores. Locations are all around the U.S.A.  Just go to www.traderjoes.com/location and you'll be able to see if a wonderful Trader Joe's is near you. 

For an easy, no cook, healthy summer salad that's good any old time of the year, put some mescalun greens or other green salad on a plate, and just tear open the silver pouch of Trader Joe's, imported from Thailand, Dolphin-safe, Tuna in any of 3 curry sauces: Panang, Yellow, or Green. 

Or, enjoy a cool, cold soup of: Sweet Potato Bisque, or Low-Sodium Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper.  These soups are so delicious that I don't even heat them up, I love them cold, and I can even just drink it from a glass or mug!  And they are also good if you heat them, but you don't have to.  Does it get any easier than this?  These delicious soups are sold in beautifully photographed, colorful, paper cartons. 

If you're a chocolate lover, try the peanut-butter filled pretzels in the gold foil bag. They are bite-sized, milk chocolate covered, pretzel pillows with peanut butter inside. Fresh fruit is available, and frozen food items, some imported from far away places, such as Thailand.  Try the frozen Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and buy the Soy & Flaxseed Tortilla chips--they're healthy! They provide Omega 3, and protein, read the package nutritional info! You can also microwave that dip and use it as a sauce for pasta!!  Ready in just a few minutes...like less than 10 minutes!  (And don't miss my blog on quick & delicious pasta made in your microwave!)  You'll find a great food assortment at Trader Joe's, including chocolates, and teas/coffees, and healthy snack items.  Oh, and the new, 100 calorie, individual bags in a box--of little chocolate parrot cookies, are really good! A nice chocolate richness in the flavor.  With the high price of gas for your car, it's still worth of trip to Trader Joe's--you'll still save money!  I have to take a bus or subway to my Trader Joe's and I still save money!  And I have a healthy food selection waiting for me when I get there. You'll also find a great selection of energy bars: Cliff Bars, Kashi Bars, Lara Bars...yum!

One of the best hand creams on the market for men, women and children

Neutrogena Hand Cream was orignially created for Arctic Fisherman.  This info used to be on the back of every single tube of this great product.  Sadly, I can only guess that a bunch of people gathered at a conference table, and made "an executive decision" after a few hours...(oh brother! what A GIANT MISTAKE) and decided that this fact could be omitted on future packaging. 

This red, white and blue tube of Neutrogena Hand Cream may no longer tell you that single extremely important fact, but it still does the same amazing, great job.  It is highly concentrated, so you really only need to use a little bit, you don't glob it on.  It is also available in a "fragrance free" tube, as well as the lightly scented tube. And it is available at most good drug stores, and even at Bed Bath & Beyond stores w/drug store type sections.
